Introduction
When I was younger, I always wanted to do stop motion every day. After school, I would play with my Doctor Who figures and WWE wrestling figures and re-enact the fights and scenes as if it was on tv.
For example, with the WWE wrestling figures, I wouldn’t just smash them together like most kids, I would first pick out which characters I wanted to fight against each and recreate the matches I had seen on TV. I would replay the scenes in a stop motion fashion as if I was taking a picture at regular intervals. I would repeat this daily as if I was directing the scene.
Finally, I got the chance to come up with my own theme and idea relating to stop motion. I thought it must be flexible enough to comply with the covid restrictions and limitations and I was grateful for the opportunity to undertake a stop motion project for real.

Artist/photographer research
Artist 1: Nick Park
It could be argued that Nick Park is highly influential in the field of stop-motion. Park’s key works include Wallace and Gromit. the process of stop motion has been practised long before Wallace and Gromit. Nick Park works for a studio called Aarodman Animation who produce stop motion movies but instead of working with puppets they work with clay which is more time consuming, however, it is a more flexible material to work with.
How did Nick Park influence me?
When growing up I always enjoyed watching films made by Nick Park, when I was watching his films I curese on how they was done and because at the time back then wasn’t must films with there likeness. Their characters to me felt so life like. Park has been a influence to me not just when I was growing up wanting to know how his work was done but also after I have now research more into him and his work I have hard work really pays off because If he didn’t invested the amount of time on making The Grand Day Out, it wouldn’t of lead to the fame.
With this project I feel like that if I invest a lot of care and time to my stop motion it might end up following a simaler path way.
Artist 2: Tim burton
Tim Burton’s most famous stop motion is arguably The Nightmare Before Christmas. He is regared to be one of Hollywood most successful filmmaker. Like Park he also has a very unique visual style and brand of quirkiness that connects with millions and millions of fans world wide but also bring his film a vast universal appeal.
Burton is a man who wear many hats from being a director, sculpture and illustrator. His films has a fondness of 19th century Victorian style to many of the costumes featured in his movies. Burton has a signature camera style where he would shoot from a high angled tracking shot that normally would glides and waves.
He is well known to have a creativity mind set is oftern is seen to be gothic meets suburbia buildings and atmostphere that is brought together from his upbringing in sunny Los Angeles a mixure that should not work but some how Burtin manages to make it work as example of this can be seen in his Film Edward Scissorhands.
Artist 3: Eadweard Muybrige
Muybrige is one of the first photographers that I discovered across when I started my path in photography. Why I chose to discuss his work is because one of his main bodies of work was based on a bet to prove that all four hooves of a horse leave the surface at the same time whilst racing. This is relevant to stop motion because of the process of capturing a sequence of multiple images.
Go into more detail – how did Eadweard Muybridge influence you?

history of stop motion
the first stop motion was done by disney snow white and the seven dwarfs in 1937 it took many years to put together as each scene was hand-painted. for it to be turned into animation it was done in the style of a flipbook.

Lighting
According to Harman in his book The Digital Photography Handbook (2008) states that direct bright sunlight can bring out the colour alongside with very harsh and as a result this creates deep shadows. While overcast sky can provide the lighting even when the photographer is shooting close up, it is not always ideal to use a flash even though it might be easily available, as it can blast too much light on to the flower which could lead to bleaches out the detail and colour.
It can be recommended that when taking picture of a flowers is to get as close as you depending on what your aim is for the final outcome. By getting close up to the flowers it will allowed you to get the entire details of the head, stamens and even the veins in the leaves or petals. [why is this useful?]
When shooting flowers make sure to remember to have a small aperture (high F stop number) to allow for an increase of the depth of field and use a shutter speed to stop any potential camera shake but will freeze the flower if it windy. When it is windy make sure that you have a tripod with you to allow for more stability.
Different coins
During my time shooting I want to try and experiment with different coins that can be seen in each picture for example for 10p want to see what would look best just a single 10p coin or multiple coin that add up the total of 10p as in two 5p ( 5p x2) or even four 2p and two 1p (2p x 4 + 1p x 2) the same will be done for amout that cant be made up with the use of one single coin 48p which can be made up with 2 x 20p,1 x 5p and 3x 1p or even 10p x 4 and 1p x 8 this will be carried out until I experiment with each different veriables that I can do to make up the total
Why I wanting to do this experiment is to see which will look best will ‘less is more’ or will more look better I will keep on carrying this out until am feel happy with what way around looks better.
evidence of sustained work
Development
It will start off with seeing the plant grow and as each day passes by I will add a 1p each day to representative economy growth. For example:
day 1 will include 1p
day 2 is include 2p
day 3 - 3p will consist of (2p + 1p)
day 4 - 4p (2p x 2) or (1p x 4)
day 5 - 5p or 2p x 2 +1p or 1p x 5
and so on.
This would carry on until the plant is fully grown, then as the plant slowly starts to decay the money will reduce and finally be replaced by toy cars and houses.
The growth of the money and the plant is intended to represent prosperity and a developing economy.
The reason why the plant is shown to decay and replaced with houses and cars is to represent an expanding population (e.g increased urban environments) and climate change relating to matters such as deforestation.
A plastic plant pot has been used to reflect the damage and pollution plastic creates.
Each day I will be taking photos of the plant with close ups of its growth with the coins included.
Once the shots have been acquired I will then enter a post-production stage to identify and manipulate stronger images, to show the continuity and the story I wish to tell.
The intention is to have continuity with camera angles to develop the stop motion.
Finally, when the animation is finished I can imagine it being exhibited in an art gallery on a large screen and a sequence of photographs taken over a period of time which will have contributed towards stop motion.
how is this relevant to your project?
Yes – but how is this relevant to your project?
Greta Thunberg
A young 17 year climate activist from Stockholm in Sweden who started of in Skolstrejk för Klimatet on 20 August 2018
Like myself she also has Aspergers syndrome which is something that I can relate to a lot because people who have aspergers syndorm are knowned to be people who once they got their mind set on something that they really enjoy and can get stuck into it going to be really hard to drive them away from it.
she took a whole year off school in 2019 to continue campaigning to help out on key climate conferences and to join other students to protests around the world. In September of that her she took the whole world by storm when she travelled to New York to address the UN climate conference because she refuse to fly as she says that it has a bad impact on the environment. so she make her way there by using a racing yacht that had long journey that lasted two weeks. Once she arrived millions of people around the world came together in support of her work and views they all took part in the climate strike
When she arrived, millions of people around the world took part in a climate strike, underlining the scale of her influence. Addressing the conference, she blasted politicians for relying on young people for answers to climate change.
She said: "How dare you? I shouldn't be up here. I should be back in school on the other side of the ocean, yet you all come to us young people for hope. How dare you?"

Week 1
In this week we were introduced to the new module and shown how it would run over the next 6 weeks, what was expected, the learning outcomes and the impact that covid 19 will have on teaching and learning for students.
Talk about how you are going to make the best use of your resources and time during the pandemic.
The way I see this project is similar to the television show Dragon’s Den as by the end of the project we will pitch our project proposal presentation to our lecturers.
How?
(this will take place on week 6)
Firstly, it was recommended that I should come up with at least 3 different ideas before I start start writing my project proposal.
during the up and coming weeks, I need to fill in the statement of intent with the information from 1 of the 3 ideas that I came up with. alongside this, I need to build a PowerPoint that needs to be about 10 mins long.
What are my ideas?
my first idea is to try out doing stop motoion photography
my second idea was to work on theme being stuck in and trapped but I didn’t stick with it because …
Finally my third was to document public transport during lockdown and for it to be done in a street photography style
And
After reviewing all three ideas I felt like final idea is to work my first idea on the stop motion because it felt like some thing that can easiesy be
Week 2
during the second week the was an aim to talk about what ideas was created and how to go about it
